Help the Show Go On—Volunteer with Civic Theatre
At Civic Theatre we maintain the highest level of professionalism while giving our guests a warm and inviting atmosphere. Volunteering at Civic Theatre is never boring. At each theatre performance or film showing, our volunteers can perform several different roles. You can stick with the one you like the best or rotate to have a fresh perspective each time!
Civic Theatre is seeking volunteer assistance in a variety of areas:
- Ushers and Concessions for Theatre Productions
- Assistance to the Film Staff
- Special Events
- Office Assistance
The volunteer staff at Civic Theatre is vital to the Theatre’s success. In fact, Lehigh Valley residents from all walks of life have pitched in to help with everything from cleaning, organizing special events, stuffing envelopes, ushering, data input, and more. Who can be a volunteer?
- Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older
- Volunteers should be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working with people
- Volunteers should have an interest in promoting Civic Theatre programs
- All volunteers performing in a Civic Theatre production18 years or older need to have clearances on file.
Volunteer Clearances are required for all volunteer performance roles over 18 years of age at Civic Theatre.
Please complete and email the following documents to the Stage Manager of your production or to the Volunteer Coordinator:

3.(a) Volunteer Disclosure Statement Affidavit - If you have been a resident of Pennsylvania for the last 10 consecutive years: Click Here

3.(b) FBI Fingerprint Based Check -If you have not been a resident of Pennsylvania for the last 10 consecutive years: Click Here (please note, there is a fee of $21.75 for FBI fingerprinting)

Open Recurring Volunteer Positions

The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the central point of leadership and organization for all volunteer efforts at Civic Theatre of Allentown. This role is responsible for building, managing, and sustaining a strong volunteer program that supports productions, events, concessions, and community outreach. The Volunteer Coordinator works collaboratively with staff to recruit, schedule, train, and recognize volunteers while ensuring accurate recordkeeping and compliance with required clearances.
This volunteer role is ideal for someone who is organized, people-focused, and passionate about supporting the arts and community engagement.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for cultivating meaningful relationships between Civic Theatre of Allentown and the broader community. This role focuses on securing community outreach opportunities, partnerships, and external events that increase Civic’s visibility, accessibility, and impact. The Community Engagement Coordinator works closely with staff to identify engagement opportunities and collaborates with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure adequate volunteer staffing for outreach events and Civic productions.

The Administrative Volunteer provides essential administrative, marketing, and development support to the Managing Artistic Director and Administrative staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, communication, and supporting a nonprofit arts organization behind the scenes. Tasks are assigned based on availability, skills, and organizational needs, allowing for flexibility and meaningful contribution.
