Scholarships

Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarships will cover half day enrollment for grades 1-8 or High School Session (enrollment does not include special classes or voice option)

Two separate scholarship funds are available to offset the cost of tuition for Civic Theatre School: The Betty T. and Bob Muir Scholarship and The Civic Theatre School Scholarship.

The Betty T. and Bob Muir Scholarship was established in memory of Elizabeth T. Muir, a professional actress and devoted Lehigh Valley theatregoer who appeared on the Civic stage in 1947 in The First Mrs. Frasier, and her husband Bob.

The Civic Theatre School Scholarship is funded by generous donations and grants from the Civic community.

Both scholarships cover 90% of tuition costs and are awarded based on financial need, to provide an opportunity for all interested students to attend Civic Theatre School.

To Apply

Application for a theatre school scholarship consists of the application form and documentation of financial need. Application can be found on Civic Theatre School's online registration site.

Deadline: Applications will be closed three weeks after registration for each session opens. Applications for Summer Session Are Coming Soon.

Selection: Scholarships are awarded at random from among qualifying applicants until all scholarship funds are expended.

Notification: Applicants will be notified of one month before the session start date. Scholarship recipients then have two weeks to complete registration by paying remaining 10% of tuition and to provide proof of financial need via qualification for free and reduced price lunches.

Eligibility

Students grades 1st through 12th.

Scholarship Student Responsibilities

Scholarship students will be expected to attend all classes, except in case of illness, emergency, or other unexpected circumstances. Eligibility for future scholarship awards may be withdrawn if the recipient does not attend regularly.

Scholarship students will be asked to write or draw a "thank you" card to the Muir foundation before the end of the session they are enrolled in.

Additional Information

Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, religion, creed, color, or orientation.

Civic Theatre of Allentown is the final arbiter of all scholarship decisions and determinations. Civic Theatre reserves the right to determine attendance and other requirements for scholarship recipients.

Recipients may re-apply for a scholarship to subsequent Theatre School term.

If a student is not selected for scholarship, payment plans, and sibling discounts are available.
