Act Out Loud!
Step into something a little magical this summer…
Civic’s Act Out Loud Camp is a two-week, high-energy theatre performance intensive designed especially for rising 7th–12th graders who are ready to grow, create, and shine. This isn’t just a camp. It’s an immersive, supportive, and exclusive experience where every student is seen, challenged, and celebrated.
We begin with a dynamic Audition Workshop, where students build confidence, refine their skills, and receive personalized mentorship from theatre professionals. Through fun, engaging exercises and one-on-one guidance, each camper will prepare for auditions for Godspell Jr. There truly is a place for everyone in this joyful, ensemble-driven show.
From there, the spotlight turns to rehearsal. Campers will spend the following days bringing Godspell Jr. to life, a vibrant and heartfelt musical filled with storytelling, movement, and music. Working alongside talented teaching artists and emerging professionals, students will collaborate, connect, and create something unforgettable.
Godspell Jr
Prepare ye for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love based on the Broadway musical that inspired a generation.
The original Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award-winner, Stephen Schwartz, and it took the world by storm. Boasting a score with chart topping songs, Godspell JR. is a sensation that continues to touch audiences.
A group of disciples help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, are employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.
