Evita In Concert

Civic Theatre of Allentown is thrilled to announce auditions for a staged concert production of Evita, running August 14 & 15 at 7:30 and August 16 at 3:00.
Featuring a full 26-piece orchestra, with musical direction by conductor Steve Reisteter, directed by William Sanders and choreographed by Mariel Letourneau, this concert production promises to be a special experience like last year's The Light In The Piazza.

Rehearsal Dates:
Rehearsals will begin around July 20. Music rehearsals may begin earlier pending cast availability. Actors must present their conflicts from July 5 through August 16 on their audition forms. Rehearsals may be held Sunday through Friday.

ROLES:
Note: The roles of Eva Perón, and Che have already been cast, and we are now seeking performers for all remaining principal and featured roles, as well as a large vocal ensemble and a separate dancing chorus.
Peron—Strong Baritone to G, with Falsetto to C. Must be able to sing, move and provide a strong sense of authority on stage. Man of the people. An impressive, charismatic politician who brings all the trappings of power with him. Authoritative, persuasive, charming and impressive.
Magaldi—“Cheesy” Baritone to G. Charming loser – never quite made it. Has the first number in the show and sets up the world in which Eva exists and establishes a Latin flavour to the piece which is essential. Should have a slightly awkward and Latin physicality.
Peron’s Mistress—Light contemporary mix to E Beautiful. Period. Fragile. Vulnerable. One big number.
Ensemble—All ranges to a high standard A broad range of men and women of varying ages. All must understand the Latin temperament even if they don't fit perfectly into the 'look'. All shapes and sizes considered to play everything from Generals to peasants. Dance/movement skills are a plus but not necessary.
Dancers—Contemporary Musical Theatre style. Tango skills are an advantage. Vocal skills are a plus but not necessary
Audition Requirements:
All auditions will be submitted virtually. There are NO in-person auditions.
To submit your audition, please:
- Fill out this AUDITION FORM. Must include conflicts from July 5- Aug 16.
- Film your vocal audition - 16 bars minimum, any musical theatre song in the style of the show
- Film your dance audition *required - see DANCE CALL video for the required combination from our choreographer
- Send your email to wm@civictheatre.com with your name and EVITA in the subject. For Example - MERYL STREEP - EVITA. For dance ensemble, please add the word dance. For example - TOM CRUISE - EVITA DANCE.
Include: - Completed audition form with conflicts
- Headshot/ resume (or any recent photo of you and a list of show experience)
- Video file of your voice audition (if sharing through Google Drive or Youtube, make sure to check your privacy settings)
- Video file of your dance combination
Auditions will be accepted immediately through June 30.
