THE PROM comes to Civic Theatre’s Historic 19th Street Theatre Stage this June as a full-out, feel-good musical celebration of love, laughter, and joy.
When high school student Emma Nolan is told she cannot bring her girlfriend to prom in the small town of Edgewater, Indiana, her story quickly attracts the attention of four Broadway performers looking for a way to revive their careers. Dee Dee Allen, Barry Glickman, Angie Dickinson, and Trent Oliver head to Edgewater expecting a publicity opportunity, but instead find themselves in the middle of a community wrestling with change, identity, and acceptance.
As Emma tries to stand her ground alongside her girlfriend Alyssa Greene, the Broadway outsiders discover that real impact has nothing to do with the spotlight. What follows is a heartfelt and hilarious collision of big city ego and small town reality that ultimately brings people together in unexpected ways.
IT’S TIME TO DANCE! …Bursting with humor, heart, and show stopping musical numbers,
THE PROM is a joyful celebration of individuality, kindness, and the courage to be yourself. With an uplifting message and nonstop energy, this is a night of pure theatrical fun made for all audiences.
